CD Units cause freeze

I have a continuing problem that manifests itself as
random, unrequested startups of either of 2 CD units,
resulting in a keyboard freezing. MS Tech Support last
year said it was due to corrupted registry & supposedly
fixed it. Did they? It is hard to say. Currently, my only
solution is to disable the units.

What can I do?
