>-----Original Message-----
>My old CD-ROM (5 years old) suddenly stopped reading
CD's. (I had just installed a new router/firewall and
installed Norton Internet Security). It would produce an
error message that the disks had a format not readable
through Windows or were corrupted. My second CDRW simply
wouldn't read the cd's.
>Device Manager says devices are working properly.
>The CD ROM is a master on what I assume is the secondary
bus the CDRW is a slave.
>If I turn the computer on with a cd in the drawer the
computer will read the cd no problem.
>If I remove the CD then put it back in the computer then
a I'm back the the wrong fromat/corruption error message
>The digital audio box is not selected in the properties
screen.
>I tired to unistall then reinstall with recent drivers
from either Microsoft or manufacturer's website - no change
>I bought a new CDRW (Sony) and replaced the CD ROM with
it using a new ribbon cable and audio cable - no change

>Any thoughts on what I could try next?
