I think my cd-rom went out. It would read the cds but not the games. So, I
got a cd-rw plus dvd-rom and put it in. It will not do anything. The drive
wont even show up in My Computer. I hooked everything up right. The light
will come on in the drive then it goes out. Can anybody help me?

Hi cwylab,

Check the document that came with the drive to properly setup the
jumper plug(s) on the back of the unit. You need to set it to master,
slave, or cable select, as appropriate, and according to it's position.

Hi cwylab,

Since the light went out on the drive, it could be the power plug to the
drive which is at fault, in which case, you could use another plug.

Your drive controller or drive cable may be faulty or improperly plugged,
or, less likely, the power supply might be at fault. It's worth considering..
