Windows XP Home - CD Drive GCE-8400B (LG?)

This seems to be a too common problem. CD drive does not recognize disc in
drive. Device Manager shows everything as o.k. I can't read or write
anything. Is there a fix for this problem? Please let me know.

Thanks Martin

Just a thought, but try checking to see if the drive is enabled for
recording. Right click the drive in My Computer or Windows Explorer and
choose Properties. Look at the Recording Tab for details. Sometimes this
gets discombobulated.

Hey Martin,

I'm having the same problem with my dvd/cd-rw also. I insert a CD/DVD and
it goes throughout all the motions but nothing shows up and the computer says
there's nothing in the drive. Let me know if you find out anything and I'll
do the same.
