CD-RW drive problem

I've got a dvd-rom and cd-rw drive on my computer.
Whenever I boot up, it recognizes the dvd-rom but the cd-
rw drive (E

is nowhere to be found. If I go into
device manager and scan for hardware changes the cd-rw
drive shows up and works fine. Any ideas on what is
going on here? Any help would be great, thanks!
