CD-RW drive not recognized in My Computer

I have a two partition drive with Windows XP Pro installed on both of them
(this is a Dell Latitude Notebook C600). One of the drives is only 3GB in
size and I use it to back up my primary drive which is about 37GB in size.
I have a CD-RW drive that shows as working properly in Device Manager in
both partitions. It shows up under My Computer in the 3GB drive - but
doesn't show up in My Computer in the 37GB drive - and that's my problem
because in the primary drive, it's unusable. I also have a CD-ROM that
shows up in Device Manager in both partitions AND shows up in My Computer in
both partitions. I desperately need a way to solve this problem without
having to re-install the OS - then reinstalling about 20GB of software and
all of the settings involved. I will mention that I use RegVac and have all
my delete files saved since July - when I know my CD-RW drive showed up in
My Computer. However, I'm very concerned about restoring thes registry
entries without knowing what is causing the problem. Can anyone offer some
other solutions?

Bobby

Hi Bobby,

Save the file below to your hard drive. Navigate to where you saved it and
double click the file. A confirmation dialog will appear when the script is
done. You may need to reboot for the change to take effect.

Restore CD/DVD in Explorer
