CD rom uninstalls itself

Just finished a W2K server install on an Asus/P4 board.
When trying to install my SQL software through the CDROM
(or any other software) windows comes up with the "you
have unsafely unplugged the following hardware" just as
you would if you unplugged a USB device. It uninstalls
the CDROM and dissappears.

The drive is IDE internal and does this with a few of my
CD's. Now I have to say that it only happens when I use
my burns, if I use our originals it doesn't have this
issue. My burns work in other machines though.

Anyone have any ideas?? I've tried different
board/cpu/ram/cable/cdrom. I've turned off autorun as well

thanks

Shawn Cole
