CD ROM setup problem

Whenever I try to download an application from a CD ROM it
fails because it seems to loose contact with the drive.
Typical failure is - Error 1311. Service file not found:
F:\DATA1.CAB. Verify that the file exists and that you can
access it.

I can look at the CD and find the file, but obviously the
setup program has lost the path somehow.

Can anyone help?
