(It'll fix code 41 errors too as per the contents of the last kb article
(now, this is from Brenda
right-click on My Computer, click on properties and check the CD-ROM/DVD drive. See if there is an error for it, and what error code it gives (there will be a yellow circle with an exclamation point in it next to the drive name). If it gives an error 39, or one of another 2 or 3 listed in the the second link, doing what it says in Regedit is what worked for me (FINALLY!!!). Hope this helps!
