Maybe somebody could help a guy out here. I've been using
XP on my machine now for about a year with no big probs
until now. For some reason my cd rom will only read audio
cd's and does not even seem to "start up" when the
computer is booting up (ie. the little green light does
not come on and no whirring noise). Like i said, audio
cd's seem to work fine but data cd's don't work diddly!
I've gone through the troubleshooting in windows and that
didn't seem to help. My device manager tells me
the "device is operating properly". I tried uninstalling
the driver and then reinstalling and that didn't change
things at all. I recently downloaded some XP patches from
the Microsoft updater website but i don't think any of
them had anything to do with messin with my cdrom....
The only other thing that i can think of is that its been
very humid here lately. Could that have something to do
with it??? Somebody please, throw me a line here! I can't
afford a new friggin cdrom.
Thanks
