CD ROM PERFORMANCE

After installing Windows XP Professional - cannot burn cd
from burner to cd rom drive direct, cd rom won't play
audio cds properly and sound is distorted on music cds.
CDRom is Diamond Data 52X. Often "PLATFORM:: Fail
Windows XP is not supported" appears when playing cds
through media player. CD player that came with computer
does not work now.
