The CD-ROM or DVD-ROM icon in My Computer is not updated when you change
media. For example, if you replace an audio CD with a program installation CD
and then open My Computer, the CD-ROM or DVD-ROM icon may still display
"Audio CD".

i am running service pack 2 which supposedly fixes this bug. but it hasn't
done so on my computer. does anyone have any suggestions please

same,

The icon and hence name of the disc in the CD/DVD drive keeps the same name
as what ever was first entered into the drive. so whenever i replace the
media with any other disc it doen't update this icon. doesn't matter what
disci place in there. (it mainly becomes a problem when i'm using media
player as the meadi in the drive is not what media player says it is.

what is your autorun option. it's possible that your device has defaulted to
audio cd, maybe you had one inserted when the options in the properties were
altered. right click on the device and check out the settings.
