CD-ROM Missing from the device manager and My computer

There is a CD-ROm install on the PC and it is detected druing boot up. The
helpdesk guy did some security on the machine and now the CD-ROM is no longer
listed in device manager and my computer. The helpdesk guy is no longer with
the company. I assume he did something in the registry to hide it from
showing up. I logon as the administrator and it still does not show up.
Where do I need to go to make the CD-ROM show up in device manager and my
computer?
