My cd rom can not read any cds. In windows explorer when
I clicked on cd drive, nothing comes up. However in
device manager it shows the device is working properly. I
had uninstaled the cd drive and rebooted the computer.
The system installed the cd drive automatically. But it
still does not work. In event viewer, the error messages
are the cd drive had a bad block. Please, can any one help
Many thank's
Megan

You may actually have had a cdrom drive failure. Or the drive may need
cleaning. Try a cdrom cleaning disk first. If that doesn't help you might
try uninstalling and re-installing the drive controller in the DEVICE
MANAGER. If you're still having a problem try replacing the data cable, then
the drive itself if nothing else has worked.

You have just what it says, a bad block. Just go down and
buy a DVD drive which is up to date and will read anything.
A quality DVD will sell for under $50. Be sure to uninstall
the old drive from device manager before you change it out.
good luck
