Hello.
I'm using Xp. My hardware in question is a Creative 8438 cdr/rw. It's the
only cdrom in the system. Commercial cd's or cd's burned on other systems
are read adn accessed normally, but cd's bburned on this system are
sometimes readable, sometimes not. Somtimes the cure is a re-boot. Other
times I alternate wiping hte cd, rubbing the cd, blowing any potential dust
out of the cdrom itself with compressed air... it's very luck of the draw.
What should I look for in the systems settings? Event Viewer tells me this:
Symbolic Name: IO_WARNING_PAGING_FAILURE
Message: An error was detected on device %1 during a paging operation.
Explanation
An input/output (I/O) request to a memory-mapped file failed and the
operation was retried.
