my cd-rom drive worked fine before but after going thru a
recent windows update(2 days ago), i realise the drive
failed to read any type of discs i put in. first was a
music cd then a Splinter Cell installation disc, and even
the XP installation disc. all of them could not be
detected by the drive. i do not know which of the updates
caused this problem but definitely it had to be one of
them because the drive had worked fine before the update.
the thing is, the device manager indicated it is "working
properly" but apparently it is not. if i had to reinstall
XP, does it mean i have to forego the updates to keep the
drive working?? anybody kind enough to offer some advice??
