CD ROM/DVD Drives

When I startup most of the time I keep losing the CD ROM and DVD Drives -
they do not appear - are not functional.

Try removing one drive (and rejumper to "master" or "standalone") and
reboot. Isolate the issue to the drive, cable, IDE buss etc.
