cd-rom driver problem

's Computer Specifications

i tried to install software for creator 4/cd writer.
i know there is a compatibility problem with xp.
during installation the system locked up.
now the system does not recognize my cd-rom.
tells me my drivers may be corrupt.
have tried uninstalling and reinstalling hardware and
drivers.
can any one tell me what to do?????????
