When starting WIndows XP it says that a cd writing system
has been disable, because it can create instability.

THe only CD player I have is the stationary. Using the
standard Microsoft XP drivers. One file:
C:\windows\system32\drivers\ cdralw2k.sys does not kick
in. THis can be seen checking in System hardware.

"CDRAL for W2000 kernel driver Roxio ver 1.0.0.1036"

Roxio has no update and Microsoft cannot recognise the
error. Getting rather desperate since it eventually
causes the system to crash. I only have WIndows XP
installed with Service pack 1 and the rest of the
updates. No other programmes. Any suggestions anyone.

Many thanks

Remove Roxio EZ CD Creator if the version if 4, for it is not compatible
with XP. Version 5, with the special XP patch, started to be compatible
with XP.
