Hi Folks!
You guys have done me so good in the past and I'd like to say thank you to
whoever you are!
Yesterday I discovered my CD-ROM drive to be inoperative and not showing in
My Computer. I went to Device Mgr and the drive had a yellow exclamation
mark. Under update device driver, 1st I get the "good old" cannot find a
better match. Earlier today, somewhere in there in DM it said "this device
is disabled. To enable it, click here" Well guess what? I clicked there
and got this message "sorry, this device cannot be enabled".
Then (and now always) when I try to update driver (find it myself or let the
system find it) I get this message: Windows cannot start this device. It's
configuration info (in registry) is incomplete or damaged (code 19).
I've not made any drastic changes to this computer (which I've had very
nicely for 4 years now). Gosh darn, it's driving me mad!
Your help will certainly make my day (I love a challenge) but PLEASE, I'm
illiterate when it comes to "boot disks" and "IDSs" and all. If possible, be
gentle and I will owe you much!
Thanks lots..God Bless
Mz. Jazz

In Device Manager, "uninstall" the CDRom altogether. Then reboot your
computer and see if it gets it right.
