You don't need it. If the router isn't at default settings and you don't
remember it's IP address and password, press and hold the reset button until
you see the light start to flash. It should take less than 10 seconds. This
will reset the router to default settings. Once this is done, reboot your
computer to get the new IP address from the router, in case they were set
for other than default of 192.168.1.x. Next, open your Internet browser and
go to http://192.168.1.1, there is no user name and the default password is
admin. You will now be able to configure the router.

Type 192.168.1.1 Leave username blank. Password is admin. Login.

The Status page should read "Obtain an IP automatically" for the Cox
network. Change time zone as required. Save settings. Choose the Security
tab. Firewall should be enabled. Save. Choose the Admin page. Change the
default password from admin to something longer. For other settings, consult
Linksys.com since you don't have the CD.

New question. I have installed the Linksys Router BEFSX41. When I
was using ZoneAlarm it used to report how many times someone was
trying to get at your system. Is there such a capability with this
router? If so can someone tell me how to gather the data.

Thanks,

Does it matter? Port scans are automated, you'd get
thousands of "random" scans and it's triva at best to know
it. Regardless, check the router's menus for a log.

Administration tab|Log|Enable|Save Settings This will enable logging.
