CD-Rom 'this application cannot run'

whenever i insert a CD or DVD with CD-Rom extras the
message 'This appliction cannot run' pops up and i cannot
play the extras. Just a few weeks ago it worked fine.
I did a system restore before the problem which i have
tried to undo but it tells me it hasn't go the files to
undo it . Also i had installed the xp service pack.
does any one know why this has happened. Could i of
deleted something important?
I says the device is working properly
