CD-ROM &CD-RW are not found

I am running WIN 2000 on a Dell Optiplex GX1. I recently
discovered that I cannot see or locate the CD-ROM and CD-
RW drives, both of which worked as of 2 months ago. I am
not sure when the problem started, other than sometime in
the last 2 months.

The only changes made to the computer since I last used
the burner have been the standard Windows updates (via
download) and an upgrade from Norton Internet Security
2003 to the 2004 version. I just uninstalled Norton
completely, and that did not fix the problem. Also, the
Secondary IDE Channel is not visible in the Device
Manager. Thanks for any help!!
