CD-ROM Access Is Missing...

My CD-Rom drive no longer shows up in Explorer. I am running Windows 2000. This happened when I was removing a copy of Easy CD Creator. I use this software with a Backpack portable cd rewright device. The following url explains how to fix this problem: http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;EN-US;314060. Is it safe to carry out these instructions? Any hidden problems I should be aware of? Other advice?

Make a backup of the registry and ensure you know how to recover if it goes
wrong. Other than that follow the KB
