for the second time this week my cd burner has stopped
reading cd's. At first the problem was that the power
cord had come loose. This time, I have no clue. I have
started IMAPI service, gotten the patch, checked
connections, tried different types of cd's and even tried
it in other pcs. What is different about this situation
this time is that it still doesnt read cds in any other
pc either. The other day it did.

If it doesnt work in other PC's then maybe time for a new one.

Use a CD cleaner and see if it helps, or else the drive is shot and needs to
be replaced/repaired.
