Your CD-RW drive has probably died. Here are a few things to try:
1. With the computer off and unplugged, reseat the cable going from the
drive to the motherboard and also the power supply connector.
2. Make sure the drive isn't using PIO mode instead of DMA. Here is a

3. If the above steps don't help, replace the drive. A new CD-RW drive
is very inexpensive.
