CD-R Drive does not recognize svcd

When try to access my cd drive after inserting svcd, i get
a message which reads "The disk in drive D is not
formatted. Do you want to format it now?" with yes and no
buttons, If I click on yes, the message appears which
reads "The disk in drive D cannot be formatted".

Please help
