OK a friend of my folks has put a CD into her CD/DVD drive in her laptop not properly and it seems the laptop has digested the CD. Not sure how to try to get it out or try with a long paper clip or dismatling the Laptop, which would void the warranty.

Have not seen the latop yet, but any ideas??

Think its gonna be a hard one till you actually see the laptop...Most laptops now days have just a couple of screws holding CD drive in place..No need to be dismantling the whole thing...

if u are in luck there should be a little button you can press to open the drive up
you'll need a pin to poke it button should be in a hole on the front of the drive.

worse comes to worse
most laptops are designed so the drive is easily taken out
should be 2/3 screws and it'll pop out no need to open up the laptop

Generally if it "eats" the CD/DVD then the chances are that its a slot load drive. Usually just removing the drive and then popping off its facia (where the slot is) will allow you to remove the disc, usually the jam happens because of the gears or pullies slipping. Often it will fall out freely once the facia is removed, failing that take some long nipped pliers

if you cant repair something hover a hammer over it, usually it starts to function again
