My cd,dvd,cdrw and floppy drives don't work anymore (XP
with SP1 and 2)

Tried the registry fix - no joy!

They're not showing on the BIOS\CMOS page, in My Computer
or in Sytem\Device manager - it's like they've been nuked.

I need some help - I'm desperate now.

If they are not showing up in the BIOS, are they detectable by it? If not,
either they have no power, or the ribbon cable is loose, or they have quite
literally died and are therefore undetectable.

If they don't show in BIOS it's not a Windows problem. Pop the cover and
check cables, they need data cable AND power to be seen by BIOS.
