Not sure if this is software or hardware, but:

I can read a 'data' CD (music, graphics, etc) on my E: drive with no
problem, but anytime I insert an 'installation' CD into my drive, I get
this msg:

E:\ is not accessible.
Incorrect function.

The dialog box is accompanied by a big red X (Stop) icon.

Any idea what could be going on?

Perhaps your anti-virus software is causing this? Try disabling it to test.

I have the same problem with both of my drives. I disable
the firewall and the antivirus and no luck. I need an
answer as well.
