I have a Sony laptop running WindowsXP sp2 and it has a cd/dvd combo drive
which only burns cds. Connected via a usb port is a Pioneer external cd/dvd
burner which burns both cds and dvds. I have noticed when i "enable CD
recording on this device" on both of them one will be disabled. In other
words it appears only one of the drives at a time can have burning enabled.
Is this normal? And can it be fixed so both can have recording enabled
simultaneously?

Yes this is normal, however if you use third party burning software such as
Nero you can burn to any drive reguardless of the checkmark setting.

I used Deepburner and tried a test cd with the checkbox unchecked and it
worked. Thanks again.
