CD\DVD Burners keep spinning after lead-in

I have two burners: 1. ATAPI CD-RW 52x24. 2. LITE-ON
LDW 411S DVDRW Rewritable. My OS is XP Professional with
Nero 6.0.3.2 installed. When I start Nero the burn
begins with the lead-in phase and then 4% into the
process, Nero craps out, drive keeps spinning, I can't
eject, must restart XP to get my brand new useless CD or
DVD out. This also happens when I try to copy onto a CD-R
disk using WMP 9. I believe this is a XP related problem
though I am going to ask Nero support as well. Please
Help.
