CD drives disappeared from My Computer

Hi.

I put a disc in my drive, autoplay didn't come up, so I clicked My Computer
as usual to activate it myself, and found that both my drives were missing.
No icon, nothing. I tried the disc in the other drive, same deal. I tried
typing D: and E: into Run but was given the error message that they are "not
available." I tried searching the problem on google and all I got was
something linking the problem to CD-writing software, which I do not have.

I assume it's linked to one of these: yesterday, I installed some RAM, a 1GB
stick. Aside from that, everything's going smoothly. I also downloaded a
driver update for my graphics card. Again, never received any error message
from either of these, or at all.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Check your BIOS settings first to be sure it knows that drives are present.
Good Luck

It is very easy to bump cables when you have the case open. Since you
installed a RAM stick, I'd open the case and reseat the cables (signal
and power) to those optical drives.
