Several of the PC's on our small office network have
developed the same problem; the CD drive is listed as
working properly but won't detect or open any CD.

I've checked for viruses and we haven't installed any new
hardware or software. Any ideas??

Are CDs detected if booted to Safe Mode? If so, copy the Msconfig utility
from a Windows XP system to one of the affected systems and follow steps in
Knowledge Base article 310560 How to Troubleshoot By Using the Msconfig
Utility in Windows XP (http://support.microsoft.com/?id=310560) to try to
identify the cause of the problem.
