hi all, i have a prob.
yesterday everything worked fine.
today however. the two cd drives are acting strangely.
if i put a cd or dvd into one of the drives, it reads the contents and
displays them. however when windows starts making thumbnail views for them
(pictures or movie clips) it locks up halfway through. i cant run anything
while this is happening, the whole machine just locks up, i have to
ctrl-alt-del to stop the cd drive from reading.
its odd because it happens with the dvd burner and the extra dvd player.
new installation of winxp + all drivers etc. on the 30th jan. no probs
untill today. have had the same setup for over a year. no new hardware, no
new software.
athlon xp 3000
512ddr
xp with sp1
any ideas??

Aren't you back to square one? Didn't you say it was a new install as
of Jan. 30?

I'd start by gettin' all the updates.

all the updates are in place. i fact, thinking about it, the problems
started just after i got all the updates????
i think ill hit the last restore point to see what happens......
