Does anyone know an application in the W2K OS or a command
function that would allow me to close the CD drive door
remotely after it's been ejected? A Google search turned
up nothing on closing the tray again, only ejecting it.

Thank. Tried it but since it's an ext USB2 dvd/cd drive,
it doesn't appear to function correctly unfortunately.
