Hi

My dvd/cd drive wont play on the auto run fuction.
I have a data disk and I am trying to use it but it wont run on my pc
can any one help?

Hello fruity,

I can't help you unless you tell me if you already have opened "my
computer", then choosing the drive that is giving you the problem, right
click it, choose "properties", select the "auto-play", tab, check to see if
the auto run function is enabled.

If so, and it still does not run on it's own, then do you have a third party
media player, or CD-RW software installed, or a combination of the two?

These programs can change the "default" auto-run function, or it can be as
bad as a trojan or virus.

So if you can be more specific I can try to help you, after you tell me what
if any additional software or if it simply needs to be enabled.

Hi junior,

The computer is an elonex and the dvd drive is built in i have just done a
system resotre on the pc so no new software is on here.

I have just checked my computer and the drive is nolonger showing!!!!!

I used to use VLC media player but havent used that in a couple of months.

any more help would be great mate

Before going too far, is the Drive in Device Manager and any error message?

You may try this repair

CD-ROM drive or DVD-ROM drive appears to be missing after you install
