cd drive not working

when i put a cd in one of my cd drives nothing happens.i
have tried everything the troubleshooter recommends and
nothing works.when i check the status of the drive it
say's its working fine.
i have even rebooted my pc to the original factory
settings but that wont work either.
can anyone help me any further?
