I have the original cd rom that came with my xp. When I put a cd in and
click on the D:\drive I get the message D:\drive not accessible (incorrect
function). When I check the manager it says that it is fine. I am currently
in school so access to the drive is important for many of my homework
projects. I would appreciate any help I can get. Thank you.

Hi,

http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/en....asp?frame=tru
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en
May be an autoplay problem, see links above..

http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/device...e/IDE-DMA.mspx
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;321641
Look through the above links too..
Drive or media may be damaged or dirty too..?
Cheers

Try The Windows XP TweakUI powertoy to disable the autoplay feature on the
CD/DVD drives, may be part of the problem..
Tried it myself and Nero InCD now sees my DVD/CD-RW media as Pink instead of
solid blue, DVD/CD-R is seen as RAW or blue as I would expect since
disabling the inbuilt, your results may vary..
Hope it can help
cheers
