Hi,

All of a sudden my cd drive will no longer read, rip or do anything with
music cds. I can play dvds with no problem. Can someone please advise on
what i should do to sort the problem.

Will it read data CDs such as a program installation CD? If not it could be
the CD laser has died. There are two lasers in combo drives, one for CD and
one for DVD.

One could only conclude that the CD laser has died. The only fix is
replacement.

I would say it sounds like it's time for a new drive.

Might try a cd cleaning disk, but it may just be time to upgrade..
