This minor problem arose after dealing with the msblast
worm. I think looking at other messages that some other
people have had similar problems but no answers.

After boot up my cdrom drive isnt showing up in the 'my
computer' folder. Nor does it appear device manager or in the registry
under
Hkey_local_machine\hardware\devicemap\Scsi ....

However it is present and enabled in
bios and after doing a hardware scan in
device manager the drive icon magically appears. Its details also then
appear in the registry and it then works perfectly.

any ideas? its just a pain having to do a hardware scan
for my cd drive every time i want to use it.
