cd drive and dvd drive disappeared from my computer, in
device manager, there is a yellow exclamation mark next to
both drive, in properties for both drives thei is an error
message, "windows cannot load the device driver for this
hardware. The driver may be corrupt or missing (code 39)
i have tried uninstalling them and restarting the
computer, both individually, and together, also i have
checked the wires, they are all fine, tried unplugging and
pluggin back in, then uninstalling, and still same
problem, very grateful for any help here... thanks

Try loading your chipset driver, the ones that came with the motherboard.
Chances are they are gone/corrupted for the ide controler.

I had this happen also (don't remember if error code was the same) In the microsoft knowledge bas
I found an article about it . It involved a corrupted registry and I used REGEDIT to fix it.
