I have a Pioneer dvd-rom dvd-114on my computer. The provider is Microsoft and
the driver dat is 7-1-2001. The driver version is 5.1.2535.0 and the digital
signer is microsoft windows publisher. I cannot run any of my program cd
software from this drive or my Aopen cd-rw crw5232 drive. The driver version,
driver date, driver provider and the digital signer are the same the
Pioneer. I was able to use both drives before windows xp was installed.
Please provide instructions to correct this problem. Thanks

My drives are visible in "MY Computer" There are no question marks on these 2
devices listed in Device Manager. Is there anything else that I can do to
solve this problem?

In device manager, right click the optical drives, click uninstall for both,
then click action tab, scan for new hardware.. XP should reinstall the
drives, any difference..?

http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;321641
http://kgiii.info/windows/XP/general...VD_drives.html
See if the above link(s) apply in any way to your situation, or try and use
the easy fix method by Doug Knox, any luck..?

What error messages are you receiving in device manager, if any..?
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;310123

Look in computer management, event viewer, system.. Click the Start button,
Run, type eventvwr.msc in the run box and click ok.. Any Cdrom errors in
there..?
Hope this can help..

I have a very similar issue. Just yesterday I purchased a pioneer DVD. Plug and play picked up the device as Pioneer DVD-RW DVR 110. The driver that is using is by Microsoft Windows Publisher, Driver date (7/1/2001), Driver version (7/1/2001). I'm debating whether this driver is corrupt?

I can see the cd / dvd name when I open my computer. I can also see folder names and file names. When I try and open anything (in this case an MP3) on the cd /dvd it firstly takes ages to open and then secondly winamp hangs up. I think the driver is battling to read the dvd / cd. If I replace the pioneer dvd writer with my old dvd reader it works fine - obviously because it is a different brand with a different driver.

Do you have any ideas?

In "Device Manager", there is no "Recording Tab" on the AOPEN CD-RWCRW5232
Properties or on the PIONEER DVD-ROM DVD-114. The disk drive in DEVICE
MANAGER is wdcwd400bb-00lnao scsi disk device. In "MY Computer" the Pioneer
dvd drive has the recording tab showing and this device is enabled. The
cd-rw drive has the recording tab showing. I have already followed the
instructions from (316529) whenever I have to go back into the registry
editor because the "Recording Tab" disappears after I shut down and then
reopen my computer. The no."3" is in the value data box of my Pi0neer dvd
drive. I keep changing th no. to"1". The no"2" is in the value data box for
the cd-rw drive. I have also followed the instructions from Doug Knox
"Restore Cd-DVD Drives to Explorer. The info from Pioneers web site states
that windows xp is treating the Pioneer as "Plug N' Play". Is there anything
else that I can do to correct this problem?

Brenda,
First of all there is not supposed to be a recording tab in the properties
of any optical device in the device manager, just to clear that up..
Secondly your DVD-ROM is not a recordable device and should be #3 so you
need to chill as far as trying to make it one, ok, just to clear that up too..
The Pioneer being plug and play is not a real problem, most devices are now
a days..
Is the Pioneer showing up as the wdcwd400bb-00lnao scsi disk device in
device manager..?
If so, at the bottom of the article, see #4., you may need to reinstall IDE
controller driver, see link below..
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=314096
Hope this can help you..
