My cd burner and the drive for that matter wont work. Won't play cd's. Won't play software and won't record. When I put a cd of any kind it acts like there is nothing in there. What's wrong. My computer is on;y 3 months old.

Won't play software and won't record. When I put a cd of any kind it acts
like there is nothing in there. What's wrong. My computer is on;y 3 months
old.

Several things.

Power off the PC, take off the cover and make sure the leads are firmly in
place. Attention, this may invalidate your warrenty.

Right click on My Computer > Properties > Hardware > Device Manager > see if
XP recognises your drive. If there is a yellow triangle against it, use the
troubleshooter as a guide.

If it looks ok (no yellow triangle) or its just not there, take your PC back
and have the device changed under guarantee.

Cheers,
Jerry
