So no one could accuse me of not trying something I did this, which
reinstalled some drivers. I'm not surprised that it didn't accomplish
anything, because as the thread title indicates, it's a burner problem, not
a reader problem. I have, in fact, just installed a major app from CD since
starting this thread. The indicated Microsoft procedure is for a situation
where the drive is not recognized at all. It specifies that it is to
restore play and access.
If I'm not mistaken, IMAPI "Manages CD recording using Image Mastering
Applications Programming Interface (IMAPI). "
I've studied up on it some, but to no avail. As installed IMAPI waits for a
CD to be inserted then comes "online," ready for the job. As it is, when I
insert a CD IMAPI starts, runs for about 5 seconds and shuts down agian.
In fact, when I start a burn IMAPI remains offline until the CD ejects -
THEN it starts up for its 5 seconds of fame and kicks the bucket yet another
time.
Thanks.
