CD burner drivers not loading at startup.

I installed EXCD 4 to my Windows XP set up before I realized that XP does
not support it. I uninstalled the program after I found out that I could
not get updated drivers for it. Now the problem is that when I start up my
computer I get a little balloon that says that Windows is not going to load
any burner drivers because the program is not compatable. I have searched
the registry for any mention of this software and have deleted any reference
but still get the balloon. I can not do a system rstore to get me back to a
good state because this has been going on for over a month... no restore
points from before this all started.

HELP.... does anyone have a fix other than reinstalling XP??? I really
don't want to go through all of that.

THANKS!!!

Duane,

The filter drivers are still loading and you see the incompatibility message at startup. The fix cdgone.zip from aumha.org helps in all cases.

Performing a manual uninstallation of Roxio Easy CD Creator should also help.

I uninstalled EZCD awhile back now and even went into the registry to see if
there were any traces of it lingering and if there were I deleted them.

I ran "CDGONE" and did a search for the files as described on the Microsoft
site. None were found. Searched the registry as described and none of the
keys were found as described.

I still have the same error message when I bootup.
"DEVICES OR APPLICATIONS DISABLED.... 'CD recording software' will cause
Windows to become unstable. Yada yada ... yada.

I thank you for the help... but I need more.

Duane

Duane,

This is the manual uninstal procedure for Roxio 4x. (similar procedure)
Uninstall CD Creator 3.x or 4.x in Windows XP (SW00017):
http://www.plextor.com/english/support/faqs/SW00017.htm

If this did not help, you may contact Roxio support and have their driver removed from your system.

Yes I have.... I posted what I have done in my previous messages. I did
everything that you suggested ... to the letter... and I still have the same
problem.

Any thing else you can think of for me to try???

Thanks... Duane
