Hello, I'm new to newsgroups and chatrooms, so please bear
with me here. I'd really like to record songs from a
normal audio cassette to my computer, but usually stear
clear of hardware concerns, so I don't have much
experience with it. How would I do it please?

I guess I can tackle another issue with my burner drive
now. You see when I try to open my burning software, most
of the time nothing will happen. Seldomly a dialog box
will open that tells me that the drive is "in use by
another application," and I know how to utilize the Task
Manager to end an application, but how would I find out
which application is the guilty one.

Thanks alot for reading through this message, and if you
can help, please email me at (E-Mail Removed). It
would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in Advance,
Adam

Do a google search on how to do this. It's an easy process and Google
will give you loads of web pages describing procedures and giving
software recommendations for doing the recording.

Replies normally are posted only to the group, so everyone can comment and
share. One way to find responses is to use the search tool.

The line out or speaker out jack from the cassette deck can be connected
to the line in jack on the sound card. An audio utility like RECORDER,
which is software bundled with some Creative SoundBlaster cards, can then
used to record .wav files (very large) of the cassette material - perhaps
one song (file) at a time. Similar software can be found with an
http://google.com search for "sound recorders".

The .wav files can then be burned to CD as audio files (CDA) if desired,
and they should play on any CD deck. Or they can be left in .WAV form, or
converted to MP3 or WMA files (much smaller), and played on compatible
machines.

As for the burner problem, especially if you have installed third-party
software, suspect a conflict. Reply to this post, and add more info about
your burner/s, and someone may have suggestions. In the interim, click
Kelly's link below, click "C" and scroll down to the extensive CD section.
There may be clues to your problem.
