CD burner and DVD player?

When I go to properties on either or both of the items, it showes them as
full, even though there's not anything in either drive. Have I lost e file or
screwed up a command to cause this. DVD player will read and play, but will
not let me copy to disc. cd burner will not do anythig when I try to burn
disk. I have uninstalled and reinstalled, drives and their programs. Both
when crazy at same time. Any ideas what I have done. Thanks.
