I am puzzled when you say that the ZIP sits between the
computer and the printer. Do you mean that you have a
parallel port ZIP in series with a parallel port printer?
If so, my own experience with such setups is that either
the printer will work OR the ZIP will work, but not both.
Try an internal ZIP, or a USB ZIP.
As for the CDROM problem, I agree with one of the previous
posts, strip the system to PC, monitor, keyboard, and
mouse. No external USB, parallel, firewire, SCSI, etc
devices. Then debug the CDROM problem. I am assuming a
common interal ATAPI CDROM. If it is external, how is it
connected and with what else on the same wire?
