      30th Mar 2004
managed to get both drives working by shuting down and
then restarting pc with disks in drives.Then when tried
to change disks, both drives didn't recognise them again -
any simple solutions please

Step #1 is to try and boot in Safe Mode. To do this just hold down the F8
key after the system POSTs and you'll see a boot menu with this option. If
it works properly in safe mode then something is loading on startup that is
causing the problem. Use MSCONFIG to troubleshoot this by selectively
disabling startup items until you can determine which one is the culprit.

Sound slike a problem with the drive. Try do some Firmware updates
to get drive to recognise CDs.
